Just when you thought that bacon can’t get any better then comes maple bacon - thick-cut bacon coated in sweet maple glaze then baked to perfection! You only need 2 ingredients, 5 minutes of prep time, and 20 minutes in the oven to make a simple breakfast staple into a mouth-watering treat.
Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Arrange an oven-safe wire rack inside of a baking sheet.
Place the bacon slices on the rack.
Use a pastry brush to spread the maple syrup evenly over the top surface of all the slices.
Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
Remove and carefully flip over each piece with tongs. Brush the second side of bacon with the remaining syrup. Return the sheet to the oven and continue cooking for another 10 minutes until the bacon is as crispy as you like.
Notes
Arrange the bacon slices in single, even layers on the baking sheet, making sure there are no overlaps for even, perfect baking.
Line the baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil for a quick and easy cleanup.
Keep an eye on the bacon as it bakes; it can go from perfectly caramelized to burnt quickly, especially with the added sugar.
Let the maple bacon cool on the rack for 10 minutes after baking to allow the flavors to meld and the glaze to set.
Save the drippings to use for other recipes or wait for the bacon grease on the foil to cool and solidify before throwing it out. Do not pour the grease down your drain - it solidifies as it cools and can clog up your drain and cause plumbing issues.
Serve: For breakfast, serve with pancakes, french toast, or eggs, use to make maple bacon waffles, or add to a breakfast hash. For snack or light meal options, use maple bacon in salads, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. For dessert, sprinkle chopped maple bacon over vanilla ice cream or fold in crumbled pieces to various doughs and batters to make delicious baked goods.Store: Store in an airtight container lined with wax or parchment paper and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 1 month. To reheat, preheat your oven to 350 F and warm the bacon slices for 5 minutes.
